A coffee with…Jasmine Smith, CEO, Rejuve.AI
On a mission to intertwine Web 3.0 with healthy living, Jasmine Smith co-founded start up Rejuve.AI six years ago with SingularityNET founder and CEO Ben Goertzel.
Powered by AI and blockchain, Rejuve.AI is described as a decentralised longevity research network which aims to bring together individuals, clinics, researchers and health supply vendors to make longevity solutions accessible and affordable to all.
The company’s soon-to-be-released longevity app claims to offer a unique exchange with its users: their health data in return for its own crypto token RJV.
The business model will help the firm in its mission to research longevity and offer a personalised platform that will present a simulation of a user’s body with tailored insights into how to live a healthier, longer life.
According to Smith, the current medical process is backwards. While we tend to tackle an illness when it arrives, she claims Rejuve.AI will help promote better-informed lifestyle decisions to prevent ill health or detect it early on.
How does Rejuve.AI act differently from normal medical practices?
One of the main ways is that a lot of medical data is siloed in various locations, and we’re aiming to bring data from pretty much all over the world.
So, it won’t be just isolated in specific regions or populations, but anybody interested in this can plug into the app and begin to hook up their wearable devices, start entering their surveys and test data and everything into the form to be able to get personalised insights or recommendations.
They can also contribute to a wider body of longevity research.
What research are you working on?
We’re working on creating models for hallmarks of ageing and just general ageing and optimising people’s health spans and lifespans at both the individual and population level.
Our first goal is to amass a database and have individual profiles that contain a vast array of data, such as your daily wearables data, your epigenetic profiles, whole genome sequencing, all those different tests and manage it in your network. Once you have this full profile, an individual will be able to have a model that’s responsive and mirroring them to be able to infer the best options.
Sharing healthcare data for commercial use has clear risks, how do you justify that?
That is a major consideration. So, part of the purpose of our platform is for people to be able to own and control access to their data. We have secure servers, and we are creating a programme with data NFTs so that users can control and track their own data. If you do choose to share your data with any outside entities, you will be able to identify them.
The data you are sharing on our platform is just with us and it is in our database, so it is secure there and we’re also working with an entity called Drata for compliance purposes, so that we’re able to meet our GDPR standards and keep them up to date.
How do users benefit from RJV tokens?
The primary case for the token is to obtain products. Right now, we have announced that three of our partners are already accepting RJV. With that, you can get peptide supplements, you can purchase flights and accommodation on Travala with the tokens, and there are additional platforms where you can buy other health-related items.
There is also GlycanAge, where you can get a glycan test, which provides detailed biological age testing kits.
What’s the secret to living a longer healthier life?
That’s interesting because I’m always looking at articles about people that live past 100, and it’s always very simple. It’s always things like having a purpose in life, staying mobile, staying active, being able to walk around, and everything in moderation.
People don’t go on strict diets or anything. They just eat mostly plant-based and keep the meat more occasional. They enjoy their favourite foods and occasionally might have a glass of wine and things of that nature.
It’s all about really having enjoyments in life and staying moving, keeping weight down and staying in shape. It’s basic things like that. Of course, there’s probably a factor whether it’s luck or genetics or something that causes certain people to extend, but the overall profile of super scenarios is very simple.
What’s next?
In the next year, we are focusing on growing app adoption. Then, in the long-term, we are hoping to have a big international database of longevity to be able to send for drug discovery and personalised therapies so that people can have their own AI simulations of themselves that they can be able to make accurate predictions on.
So that is where we are headed – to be able to have that live responsive system for everybody.
