Zune is a line of digital media devices from Microsoft that was shut down on June 12, 2012.

The devices included portable media players, such as iPods, as well as a music subscription service known as “Zune Music Pass.”

This subscription also was available on Xbox 360 console and it wasn’t limited to music.

It also offered TV and movies as well as the Windows Phone app to sync everything on the desktop.

The media players that were part of the Zune lineup weren’t able to meet the rise in the popularity of Apple’s iPod along with the growth in popularity of Android as well as iPhones. Thus, the players were removed in the year 2011.
